Maharashtra has a stupendous food culture and as one passes through its different regions, same food delicacy takes an interesting change of taste, like the most popular veg delicacies viz.Poha, Missal, Sabudana Wada etc. tastes different in Mumbai, Nagpur or in Kolhapur … each with its own special preparation! Same is with meat delicacies! Awchats now exploded another myth that marathi food is not only restricted to BATATA WADA, MISAL & VARAN BHAAT. There are varieties of vegetarian delicacies cooked in Maharashtrian homes in various regions of Maharashtra, but people staying in Maharashtra as well as outside ( foreigners) do not get to taste all of it since there is not a single stand-alone fine dining ethnic restaurant serving authentic regional food from Marathwada, Vidharbha, Khandesh, Western Maharashtra, Konkan, Greter Mumbai regions of the state. Maharashtra is also proud to have specialty food prepared by different marathi community like CKPs, Pathare Prabhus, Saraswats, Saojis, Brahmins, Bhandaris, Marathas, Kolis, East Indians etc. Maharashtra is surrounded by 6 states viz. Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Goa, Daman,. So there is a strong gastronomic influence of Moghals, Nizams, North Indians, Portuguese & British.And thus came up the concept of ‘Diva Maharashtracha’, a true authentic Restobar that will serve exquisite Marathi cuisine from all the regions & cultures as also exotic delicacies you will enjoy of different communities. This is a sincere attempt on Awchats part to remove the long awaited void in Mumbai of an authentic Marathi cuisine made available in one place and fulfill the need to have an eating place that can pamper taste bud connoisseurs for all-maharashtrian-food-desire!

Our MasterChef Deepa Awchat has put in two years of research in preparing the delicacies from the variety of food from all over the state, also involving experts in the field and deliberations with the Maharshrtrian food lovers. ‘Diva Maharashtracha’ will showcase Marathi culture with live Marathi music & folk dances taking you into the world of Maharashtrians, an ambience of grand Peshwa Wada (Palace)which you will enjoy & cherish. Come, be a part of this revolutionsing food fiesta commencing this 1 st January 2007 ! “Diva Maharashtracha” is supported by MTDC – Govt of Maharashtra & is the first ISO certified Marathi restrobar in the world.The Awchats held a soft launch party on 28 th Dec. 2006 , with mouth watering Marathi delicacies which was enjoyed and relished by who’s who celebs. Some them were like Sonali Kulakarni, Isha Kopikar, Milind Soman, Sanjeev Kapoor, Anil Deshmukh, Dilip Piramal, Madhur Bhandarkar etc.

PS: Goa Portuguesa has successfully exploded the myth that Goan food is only Sea food & Non Vegetarian by introducing more than 100 vegetarian delicacies especially from authentic Hindu Community. It is first & only Goan & Portuguese ethnic eatery in Mumbai approved by Goa Tourism Dept & featured in The New York Times. Then came up Culture Curry which exploded the myth that South Indian food is typical Idli-Dosa .We came up with food that is a blend of cultural mix from down south and variety in more than 200 veg & Non Veg delicacies that is relished by people from all over the world.
